Karrie McMillan Joins Patomak Global Partners
WASHINGTON—Patomak Global Partners announced today that Karrie McMillan has joined the firm as a Managing Director. Previously, Ms. McMillan was the General Counsel of the Investment Company Institute (ICI) where she oversaw numerous regulatory matters that affected registered investment advisers.
“Ms. McMillan is a seasoned counselor and one of the most respected professionals in our industry,” CEO Paul S. Atkins said. “We are thrilled to have someone of her caliber join Patomak. Her knowledge and experience in both public policy and compliance matters will further enhance the high level of counsel we provide our clients.”
Before joining ICI in 2004, Ms. McMillan spent more than eight years in private law practice, including four as a partner at Shearman & Sterling and Willkie Farr & Gallagher where she was actively engaged in numerous compliance reviews, including both targeted and comprehensive “mock SEC” examinations of registered investment advisers and their affiliates. As a partner in those firms, Ms. McMillan also acted as an independent compliance consultant for SEC and state securities enforcement matters. Ms. McMillian also served in the SEC’s Division of Investment Management from 1991 to 1998, rising to the position of Assistant Chief Counsel. Ms. McMillan is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and the University of Virginia School of Law.
Ms. McMillan joins other recent additions to the firm including:
• The Honorable Jill Sommers, former Commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission;
• Mr. Stephen DeVine, former counsel to SEC Commissioner Daniel M. Gallagher and SEC Chairmen Chris Cox and Mary Schapiro; and
• Ms. Roseanne Harford, former Manager in the UK Financial Services Authority’s Department of Regulatory Strategy and former Senior Counsel in the Office of Regulatory Policy in the SEC’s Division of Investment Management.
“I am proud that my colleagues are the best in the business and grateful that they chose to work at Patomak,” Atkins said. “Our firm’s growth over the past two years reflects the increasingly tangled regulatory environment the financial industry faces and great need for services that Patomak uniquely offers.”
